William Schommer, Jr., 78, of Vidor died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, TX. A native of New Orleans, LA., William has lived in Vidor since 1970 and was a retired welder with American Bridge after 18 years of faithful service. William proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor, TX., under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with a Christian Vigil to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. William is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Inez of Vidor, son, William Gerard Schommer, Sr., of Metaire, LA., sisters, Marilyn York of N. Biloxi, MS., Rosemary Schommer of Abita Springs, LA., four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
