William Guy Smith

William Smith, 87, of Vidor died Wednesday December 10, 2003 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Born in Burkeville, TX on March 5, 1916, he lived in Vidor for 46 years. He retired after 30 years as an operator at Gulf Oil Refinery. William proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and is a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday December 15, 2003 at the Church of the Nazarene in Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Sunday December 14, 2003 at the funeral home. He is survived by his sons: Preston Guy Smith of Montrose, IA., Vernon Doil Smith of Vidor, TX., daughters: Gloria Luretha Birch of Beaumont, TX., Vivian Oneida Smith, Devonna Smith Williams both of Vidor, TX., sister-in-law: Wilma Smith of De Ridder, LA., sisters: Elmirth Griner of Natchitoches, LA., Mary Sears of Hillister, TX., Oda Hudgins of Orange, TX., 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
