William "Bill" Rodney Smith Jr.

William "Bill" Rodney Smith, Jr., 70, of Vidor, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by family and friends. A native of Huntsville, TX, Bill was raised in Bevil Oaks, attending Beaumont High School before becoming a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps. For the past 32 years, he made Vidor his home. Bill was a member of Turning Point Church, Pine Forest Masonic Lodge #1420, where he served as past Worshipful Master, and El Mina Shrine. Professionally, Bill was employed at Goodyear Chemical, working in the Production, then Safety Departments, retiring in 2013. In his personal life, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the University of Texas athletics. He also dedicated time to local volunteer efforts and public service. 

 

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Smith of Vidor, TX; his daughters, Brandy Smith Antill and her husband Todd of Beaumont; and Sharon Jones and her husband Robin of Austin, TX; his brother, Joe Lawrence Smith and his wife Laura of Silsbee, TX; his grandchildren, Bradley Antill and his wife Sofie of Beaumont, TX and Evan William Antill, also of Beaumont; great-granddaughter, Lillian Antill of Beaumont, TX. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mamie Jo Smith of Bevil Oaks, TX.
