Wilda Mae Brister

Wilda M. Brister, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, peacefully passed from this life on December 6th, 2016, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, after valiantly enduring a debilitating stroke for nine years and finally, a brief struggle with cancer.
A resident of Evadale, TX, Wilda was born on July 22, 1934 at Meeker community, near Beaumont, TX to Joseph and Emelian Bourque Guidry.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, George "Buddy" Brister, parents, and siblings, Gersie Guidry, Hilda Lassiter, Velma Daily, Hazel Bickham, Vergie Bonnin, Mary Guidry, Bill Guidry, twin Wilfred Guidry and Clarence Guidry.
Wilda's legacy will be cherished by her son, David Ludolph (Ann) and daughter Debra Johnson (James). "Granny" leaves behind three treasured grandchildren Angela Ramirez, Ashley Barber, and Alan Johnson, seven great grandchildren Brooklyn Ramirez, Brayden Ramirez, Brinlee Ramirez, Blyss Barber, Makenzie Johnson, Xander Johnson, and Wesley Johnson. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters, Barbara Tanner and JoAnn Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Wilda was passionate about serving God, family, Colorado vacations and her Cajun French heritage.
She was lovingly cared for by family and exceptional caregivers Claudette Brown and Terrie Rashall, as well as special nurse, Michelle Fowler and Professional Care Hospice. We are eternally grateful for their compassion, love and loyalty. The family wishes to express their appreciation for all prayers, cards, messages, food and floral contributions.
Serving as pall bearers will be George Turner, David Hickman, Johnny Nash, Shalon Nash, Shane Jeane, Dennis Johnson, Donald Hickman and Jeff Fogleman. Honorary pall bearers will be Bobby Brister, Rodger Brister and Gary Jones.
Visitation will be at Eastgate Church in Vidor, TX on December 9, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The Celebration of Life service will be on December 10th at 10:00 am, in the church sanctuary. Reverends Ed Johnson, Bobby Edwards, Bobby Rogers, and Donald Barber will officiate. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Vidor.
