Wesley Ryan Romero, 76, of Vidor, passed away on January 28th, 2018 after a courageous, determined battle with cancer. Wesley was born on December 11th, 1941 to Addie and Ryan Romero in Pt. Arthur, Texas. Affectionately known by many as "Uncle Wesley", he will be remembered for his deep and abiding love for family and friends, a big heart, his caring, helping hands, fun times at the farm in Sour Lake, and cooking BBQ. Wesley graduated from Vidor High School then worked at DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange as a welder for 32 years. After retiring, he spent the rest of his life working at his farm in Sour Lake, the place he loved to be, raising cows, cutting hay, and working the land. He developed part of the farm into the "Mud Farm" where 4X4 trucks could race and have fun in the mud. He was preceded in death by his brother Carlos, and his precious mother, Addie Eaves Romero. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 57 years, Linda McCray Romero of Vidor, his father Ryan Romero of Vidor, daughters Karla Romero Watson of Orangefield and Crystal Romero-Mueller and husband Matt Mueller of Tomball, son Joey Romero of Rockport. He was "Papa" to his adored grandchildren Bria Crain, Westin Crain, Cole Mueller, Sabryn Crain, Madeline Mueller, and Devany Crain. He was "Ginger" to his loving siblings Ann Mooney and husband Jimmy, Dianna Killough and husband Jim and Debbie Nagel, all of Vidor, and his brother Dewey Lee and his wife Margarita of Conroe, brother-in-law Hubert McCray and wife Dorothy of Beaumont. "Uncle Wesley" was loved by his nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Wesley was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. His life was a blessing and a memory to treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Heaven truly gained a tough old cowboy. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and a celebration of his life given by Brother George Gau will be Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. both at Turning Point Church, 3600 N. Main St. Vidor, TX 77662. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2725 N. Main St. Vidor, TX 77662.
