Wayne Evert Wesley McGriff, 86, of Vidor passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. He was a longtime resident of Vidor since 1972 and was previously in Bridgeview, IL. He was a devout Christian and member of The Church of God in Vidor. He retired as a welder from the Bethlehem Steel Plant in Beaumont. He was an usher at the church, loved playing drums with the church band, working on cars, going to car shows especially ones with antique cars, collecting craftsman tools, welding, building markers with the Church of Prophecy Marker Association, and most importantly loved spending time with his family. Services for Wayne will be Monday, October 24, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with the visitation beginning at 12:00 PM and the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Zola McGriff of Vidor, TX, children: Wayne McGriff Jr. of Beaumont, TX, Ken McGriff of Pegram, TN, Regina and husband Lee Hayes of Nederland, TX, and Mark McGriff of Pegram, TN, brother Melvin and wife Joyce McGriff of Cleveland, TN, 3 grandchildren: Michael and wife Samantha McGriff, Kimberly and husband Dylan Desouza, and Drew and wife Dr. Pam Hayes, 2 great grandchildren Sterling and Daisy Paige Hayes and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Arlene McGriff, sister Veota Roll, brother Clinton McGriff, and daughter in law Phyllis McGriff.
