Virginia Stephenson, 90, of Vidor died Friday, October 11, 2013 at her residence. Born in Kansas City, MO, she was the fourth of seven children to Charles Miles and Bessie May Way of Kansas City, MO. She lived for nearly 20 years in Ponca City, OK. Where she was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1974 she moved to the Williamson Settlement near Vidor, Texas. As a member of her church she faithfully served in callings within the Primary and the Relief Society, but her passion was serving as the Meetinghouse Librarian for the Williamson wards, for many years. Virginia obtained her LPN Nursing License in 1966 while in Oklahoma and after moving to Vidor, worked in the Emergency room at St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 6:00 pm Monday, October 14, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, her first husband Robert Wayne Dowker of Kansas City, MO and her second husband Ernest Baker Stephenson of Vidor, TX. She is survived by her son Keith Stephenson (Wife Carol) of Vidor, TX, daughters Sharon Ward of South Jordan, Utah, Kathryn Kenning of Vidor, TX, and Sandra (Husband Chily) Leung of Magna, Utah, her brother Robert Lee Way of Eagle Rock, MO, 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
