Victor “Ed” Moreland, 80, of Vidor died August 24, 2004 at his residence in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX., he was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Ed retired from Hartford Steam and Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company as an Boiler Inspector. He served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Wharton a troop transport during WW II. Ed was a charter member of First United Methodist Church in Vidor and the Vidor Booster Club. In his latter years he had a great interest in his reunions for the U.S.S. Wharton, he traveled all over the country to attend them. He was essential in arranging the 1942 Vidor High School class reunion. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. His McDonald Coffee Friends will be honorary pallbearers. Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years Pat Moreland of Vidor, TX., daughter: Sherry Martin and her husband Charlie of Brenham, TX., sister: Helen Crawford of Beaumont, TX., grandsons: Scott Andrew Martin - serving in Iraq in the U.S. Marines. David Blake Martin, great-granddaughter: Elyssa Leigh Martin.
