Travis Glynn Hagler, 77, of Vidor entered into the presence of his Lord Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his residence. He fought a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Originally from Shelbyville, TX, he moved to Vidor in 1970.
He retired from American Valve and Hydrant after 35 years of service as an Electrical Mechanical Specialist A. He was also a Leadsman which was an appreciated position of consulting and advising his coworkers. Travis was a loyal union member of the Local 04-00243 Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers International Union.
He was a skilled craftsman in mechanics and carpentry. He loved spending time in his shop. He enjoyed working with his hands on mechanical engines and working with wood to build special gifts for family and friends.
Through his life-time he had a variety of hobbies. He always loved playing dominos and was a advent 42 player. He spent much of his time outdoors, riding motorcycles, fishing, camping, assisting in boy scout outings, working as head race-car pit crew chief, gardening, and mowing grass. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Omie, family, friends, and his grandchildren
He was a devoted husband of 55 years to Omie and a father of three children: Lisa, Glynn, and Kim. Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Thomas Hagler and wife Leola Morton Hagler brothers, Rodney Howard Hagler, Charles Lamar Hagler, Elbert Ray Hagler and Thomas Milton Hagler sister, Mary Byers Biggar. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Omie, sister Joy Hagler Morse of Vidor and sister-in-law Sallie Hagler of Nederland.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Hagler Teel and husband Mark of Buna, TX, his son Glynn Hagler and wife Sharla of Vidor, and daughter Kim Hagler of Chester, TX. Grandchildren: Jordan Downs and his wife Courtney of Bridge City, TX, Shanice, Clarissa, and Tyler Hagler, great granddaughter Kinleigh Downs.
His bonus grandchildren are: Candis Teel Blythe; Andrew Teel; Mathan Eastwood. Bonus great-grandchildren Paige Rogers, Ashlynn Williams, Lillie Blythe, Alaya Teel, and Logan Eastwood
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the American Lung Association and Camp Ta-Ku-La in Chester.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday April 22, 2019, from 6-9 pm at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 10am at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at 3:00pm at Antioch Cemetery 1885 TX-147
