Ray Chapman, 83, of Vidor died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his Vidor residence. A native of Mamou, Louisiana, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Ray was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor, where he was a charter and lifetime member of Council #5789 knights of Columbus and he served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Ray was an Electrical Contractor Sales for General Electric Supply where he retired after 34 years of service. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at Restlawn memorial Park in Vidor. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Sayo Chapman and Vinice Claypool, brother James Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty V. Chapman of Vidor, TX, daughter Angie Chapman Dunn and her husband Robert of Mauriceville, TX, son Randal Chapman and his wife Sophia of College Station, TX, sister Laverne Threatt of Willis, TX, grandchildren Leah Dunn Watson and husband Brandon, Kaily Chapman Kelly and husband Marine 1st Lt Daniel Kelly, Lindsay Dunn Fletcher and husband Darin, Amanda Chapman Phillips and husband Christopher, Laura Chapman, Travis Lea and wife Amy, and Tyler Lea. 7 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
