Ruben L. Stringer, 79, of Mauriceville died Monday, August 12, 2013 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, TX. A native of Sabine County, TX, he was a longtime resident of Mauriceville. Ruben was a Agricultural Teacher for 54 years. He taught at Hyatt High School in Fields, LA, Hamshire-Fannett High School and Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. He received his Masters Degree from Sam Houston State University and is a member of the Sam Houston Alumni Association. Ruben was a member of the Soil and Water Conservation District Region 9 and was a member of Silver Oaks Baptist Church in Mauriceville, where he was the Sunday School Director. He served his country in the US Army Reserves.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, with burial to follow at Wilkinson Cemetery in Mauriceville. A gathering for family and friend will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, August 15, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. Ruben is survived by his son Kenneth Stringer of Mauriceville, TX, daughters Debbie Turner of Mauriceville, TX, and Kathy Dawson of Midlothian, TX, sisters Nancy Pickering and Reba Gary both of Jasper, TX, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
