Roy H. Goeddertz, Sr., 70, of Vidor died Monday, October 25, 2004 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont, TX. A native of Groves, TX., he resided in Vidor for 40 years. Roy retired after 36 years with Gulf Oil Corp. as a Train Engineer. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, With burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home. Roy is survived by his wife of 14 years Irene Goeddertz of Vidor, TX., sons: Ronald Goeddertz of Buna, TX., Roy H. Goeddertz, Jr. of Bridge City, TX., David Goeddertz and James Goeddertz both of Vidor, TX., Sisters: Betty Cowan and Elizabeth Treaster both of Port Neches, TX., step-sons: Billy Scherry of Thibodeaux, LA., Tommy Scherry of Lufkin, TX., Brian Scherry of Vidor, TX., Mark Scherry Beaumont, TX., step-daughter: Terry Scherry Cowart of Houston, TX., 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Leroy Herman and Georgia Goeddertz and sister: Georgia Duplissey.
