Ronald Allen Block, 67, was a resident of Oakwood Manor Nursing Facility since October 2010, went to be with his Savior after a long illness on March 30, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Beaumont on August 10, 1945, son of Hyman C. Block and Alva Thompson Block. He was the youngest of six brothers and one sister. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Milton Block, Gary Block, Melvin Block, and Bobby Block. He is survived by Brother, Rodney Block and wife Emma Lee and Sister, Dorothy Petrucci and husband J.J. Petrucci. Ronald was a true Patriot, putting only God and family before country. He served in Vietnam as a medic with 108 Artillery Group, 44th Arty, D Btry, 1st BN US Army, coming to the aide of not only his fellow country men, but to the injured children of war. Ronald was a 1966 graduate of Vidor High School. He started his work ethics at 11 years old working for Burton's Pharmacy in Vidor. Later when it became Morse's Pharmacy he helped owner Pharmacist Mr. Jesse Morse, becoming close to Mr. & Mrs. Morse's hearts. After serving in the Military he was a taxi driver in the golden triangle for over 30 years working for Yellow Cab Co.. In his later years he was a self-employed independent driver with Beaumont Taxi. His favorite past time was discussing and debating politics and other interest with the 'Dunkin Donuts' crew of friends on 11th Street. He was an accomplished singer and musician playing piano and guitar, with a beautiful baritone voice. He loved Gospel music and was a DJ with KDLF Port Neches, TX., for several years with his Radio program 'Big Red's' Heaven Bound Train. He was a nostalic loyal member of a large family, never showing favoritism, loving all the same, with a large number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and Cousin Jerry Block, wife Linda & their family. There will never be an UNCLE more loved. He made wonderful memories with each and everyone of them. Ronald attended North End United Pentecostal Church of Vidor from childhood. Ronald you are loved and irreplaceable. We will miss you terribly. God Bless You Dear one and rest in peace with our Lord Jesus. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Funeral Homecoming service will be Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM both at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church, Vidor, Texas. Interment follows at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, Texas.
