Robert Leon Stockwell, 71, lifelong resident of Vidor, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Vidor. He was deeply loved by his family and friends.
Robert was born on July 4, 1952, to Jack Sr. and Janet Stockwell in Baton Rouge, LA, where he attended school until the sixth grade. The family then moved to Vidor, where Robert graduated from Vidor High School, Class of 1970. Robert was a retired operator from DuPont in Beaumont, TX, where he worked for 33 years.
An avid reader with a passion for old western movies, Robert also loved fishing in his younger years. He had a deep love for playing the guitar, and his family cherished the moments they shared listening to him play and sing, especially his renditions of Willie Nelson songs. Robert was known for his tremendous kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was immensely proud of all their achievements.
Robert is survived by his wife, Amanda Stockwell of Vidor, TX; his brother, Alvie Stockwell, and his wife Penny; his daughter, Leslie Stockwell of Beaumont, TX; his stepson, Kelly Simmons, and his wife Debbie of Beaumont, TX; his stepdaughter, Valerie Kennedy, and her husband Joshua of Vidor, TX.
He is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Brady Simmons of Lafayette, TN; Brandon Simmons of Port Arthur, TX; Johnathan Simmons and his wife Samantha of Urbandale, IA; Vanessa Croteau and her husband Patrick of Santee, CA; Haley Festa and her husband Nick of Port Arthur, TX; Kate Charlton of Beaumont, TX; and Mary Jane Kennedy of Vidor, TX. Robert also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sr. and Janet Stockwell; his brother, Jack Jr. Stockwell; and his stepson, Michael Simmons.
Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories he created during his lifetime.
