Robert "Spud" DeVillier, 73, died Thursday, August 18th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Spud was a lifelong resident of the Golden Triangle who loved to scuba dive, hunt, fish and going sailing. He also enjoyed doing underwater photography and video. He retired from IBM as a computer technician after 30 years and was the Captain of the "Ivory Bill" tour boat on the Neches River. Spud was well known for always helping others and volunteered many hours with the Boy Scouts. Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A graveside service will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Spud is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen DeVillier, 2 sons, Mark DeVillier and his wife Shannon of Vidor, and David DeVillier and his wife Eyde of Nederland, 1 grandson, Nicolas DeVillier and 2 granddaughters, Kira and Ally DeVillier. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Janice Fortune and Becky DeVillier, and his loving and faithful companion, "Dudley".
