Robert Jackson, Sr., 88, of Wimberley, Texas died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Deer Creek Nursing Home in Wimberley. A native of Ben Franklin, TX., he lived in Vidor for 50 years before moving to Wimberley seven years ago. He was a retired process operator with Texaco Refinery. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Ridgewood Church of Christ in Beaumont under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial services to be held at 2:00 p.m. at Bivens Cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. RJ was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Syble Jackson, sister Vada Hanssard, and a great grandson Edward Robert Bush. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Addie Ruth Jackson of Wimberley, son Robert J. Jackson, Jr of Sugarland, daughters Linda Sparks and her husband Chester of Wimberley, Sheila Bush and her husband Mike of Boise, ID., and Shelly Luman and her husband Redell of New Caney, TX., eight grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgewood Church of Christ, 2455 Commerce, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
