Robert G. Stanton, Jr., 87, of Vidor died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. Affectionately known as 'Pot', he was a native of Orange, a longtime resident of Vidor, and a retired Lube Plant Foreman with Mobil Oil Refinery in Beaumont. Robert served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert Grady Stanton, Sr and Christine Willey Stanton, sister Roberta Stanton Philmon. He is survived by his wife Helen Stanton of Vidor, daughter Peggye McDonald and husband Dennis of New Braunfels, sister Lucy Maida of Houston, four grandchildren: Stanton Morse, Amanda McDonald, Andy McDonald and wife Mandy, Aaron McDonald and wife Shelly, four great grandchildren: Shelby McDonald, Ambergis King, Abbie McDonald, Alden McDonald, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Stanton Morse, Andy McDonald, Aaron McDonald, Michael Decker, Bob Mooney, Manuel Vera, Richard Smith, and Bill Dean. Honorary Pallbearers: Mobil Lube Plant Retirees: Cliff Blackstock, JoeLee Bonura, Douglas Canant, Jack Fitzsimmons, Doug Jones, James Linscomb, Charlie McCleskey, and Lawrence Trahan.
