Robert Gordon Purkey

Robert “Sonny” Purkey, 61, of Vidor died Monday, June 9, 2003 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas. A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, he has lived in Vidor since 1975, and was a self-employed Roofing Contractor. Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, Texas. Visitation will begin Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Laurie Purkey of Vidor, TX., children: Danny Purkey of Vidor, TX., Lisa Purkey Doucet of Beaumont TX., Robert Gordon Purkey, Jr.of NC., and Dwayne Purkey of NC.; brothers: William Paul Purkey of Vidor TX., and David Purkey of NC.; sisters: Lois, Mary, Faye, Phyllis, and Susie. He is also survived by four lovely grandchildren Lauren, Brett, Brice, and Holly.
