Petra M. Villafano

Petra M. Villafano, 89 of Pearland, TX and former longtime resident of Vidor passed away Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at Wind Song Convalescent Home in Pearland. She retired from Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas after many years as an X-Ray Technician. Petra was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Petra's accomplishments include; in 1975 she completed a course in typing at the Community Education Division, in1978 she received a certificate in Basic Electrical Safety from Texas State Technical Institute, in 1981 she was the leader of the League of United Latino-American Citizens and received a letter from the State of Texas Secretary of State Mexican-American Independent Society Chapter No. 1089811, in 1983 she received a letter from Employees International Union Local 706, in 1985 she attended the Lamar University Regional Police Academy, in 1986 she attended the Beaumont Police Department Academy, in 1987 she became certified with the National Notary Association, and in 1997 she received a Certificate of Achievement for Top WDW recruiter. Petra was known at the nursing home as the "Classy Lady"! Petra married Gilbert Villafano on June 24, 1961. They had three sons; Joe Contraras, Gilbert Villafano, Jr, and Michael Villafano along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Petra was preceded in death by her parents; Gavino and Eufracia Moreno, husband; Gilbert Villafano, son; Gilbert Villafano, Jr, brothers; Johnnie, Albert and Johnnie, and sister; Mary Humble. Petra is survived by brothers; Joe, George, and Isabel, and sisters; Eloise, Evon, Pearl, Alice, Margaret and Delores.
