Nancy Adeline Rector

Adeline Rector, 93, of Vidor died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home of Vidor.
She was born June 8, 1915 in Singer, Louisiana to Nancy Alston Rice and John Rice. She was one of nine children. She spent her early years helping her family in the cotton fields of Louisiana until she married John Travis Simmons. She moved to Vidor in 1955, after the loss of her husband. She later married Herman Rector, whom she lost in 1988.
She loved gardening, especially her daylilies, in which she took great joy. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing, as well as going to flea markets, when she was able, but one of her greatest joys was visiting with her friends and family. She had a very close bond with her children and grandchildren. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands John Travis Simmons and Hermon Rector, son Charles Rector, brothers Henry Rice and Howard Rice, sisters Effie Rice, Katie Rice Hall, Mary Rice Nichols, Ethel Rice McCraw, and Visa Rice Craft. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Windell Evans of Vidor, three grandchildren: Windy Dee Evans, John Wayne Evans, and Alan Milligan all of Vidor, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
