Martin Luther Liston

September 11, 1950 — August 9, 2012

Martin L. Liston of Orange, Texas was born on September 11, 1950 in Beaumont, Texas to John and Betty Liston. He attended Orangefield Elementary ,Orangefield High School as well as Beaumont High School where he graduated in 1968 and also studied electronics at Lamar College as well as during his time in service. He served our country in the United States Navy, from 1968-1972, serving in the Vietnam War . After serving our country, Martin became a long-haul truck driver for over 40 years, driving with several companies such as Pool Trucklines, Schneider National, PAM Transport, Werner Enterprises, U.S. Glenmoore and many others. Martin leaves behind his wife of 33 years Cecilia E. Liston; Mother Betty Liston of Vidor,Tx.; Lanell Johnson (Wayne) of Brackettville, Tx., Brothers Clifford Liston (Pattie) of Norman, Ok., Mike Liston of Germany; Nephew Randall Kilmer (Joanie) of Vidor, Tx; Nieces Samantha Liston of Germany, April Menard (Kearney) of Lake Charles, La.; Great-nephews Johnathon Kilmer of Vidor, Tx., Jacob Nigh of Lake Charles, La.; Great-Nieces Hannah Kilmer of Vidor, Tx. and Pamela Snyder of Riverside, Ca. He was preceeded in death by his Father John Liston, and brother David Liston. Martins family would like to give special thanks to Sarvari Yellapragada, M.D. of the Houston,Texas. VA Hospital Cancer Unit Houston, Tx as well as the Michael Dubakey VA Hospital Staff/Hospice in Houston, Texas for taking care of Martin through this time. Mr. Liston's family would also like to send out a special THANK YOU to everyone who has helped them during this difficult time, especially Mr. Brian Lewis of the Memorial Funeral Home Vidor, Tx. ,Mr. Larry Tomlin of Orange, Tx. and Mr. Charles Minyard of Lake Charles, LA. Also, an Extra special THANK YOU to Brother Ed, Sister Brenda and the church family at Silveroaks Baptist Church of Orange, Tx., for their help and love shown to our family during this time. A Memorial Service for Martin Liston is scheduled for August 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Silveroaks Baptist Church 16460 FM 1442 Orange, Texas 77632. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to be made on behalf of Martin Liston to any Cancer Research Organization of your choice.
