Martin Brodnax, 71, of Vidor died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Martin was retired from Continental Dredging and Local Union #450 as a heavy equipment operator. He was an active member of Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor and was a member of the Pine Forest Masonic Lodge #1420. Martin was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Pecan Acres Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Del-Rose Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Pecan Acres Baptist Church. Martin was preceded in death by his father and step-mother A.Q. And Lorraine Brodnax, mother and step-father Ollie and Tom Sterling, grandparents Josh and Nora Wilkerson, Nathan Brodnax and Lola Loftin, brothers Larry D. Brodnax, and Vick Sterling. He is survived by his wife Sue Ann Brodnax, sons Darrell Free and his wife Linda, Robert Free and his wife Kadie, Arthur Brodnax and his wife Janice all of Vidor, TX, Randy Free and his wife Leslie of Sour Lake, TX, daughters Sharon Lopez and her husband Mike of Beaumont, TX, Sheila Simon and her husband Howard, Christy Malagarie and her husband Dan all of Vidor, TX, brothers Roger Brodnax, Oral Sterling, Shorty Sterling, sisters Nelda Eaves, Jane Anne Taylor, Priscilla, and Glenda Carol, grandchildren Kadril Smith, Peggy Sue Free, Martin Free, Haleigh Walker, Charesia Decker, Brittany Free, Rebecca Bollinger, Dana Free, Ty Malagarie, Ashlee Malagarie, great grandchildren Mackenzie Smith, Cambralynn Decker and Audreyanna Decker.
