Lee A. Newmann, 84, a Vidor resident since 1967 passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Lee was born in Arcadia, IA and spent his childhood growing up in Edcouch, TX. His lifetime occupation was that of a marine engineer and retired as a member of the MEBA. He served in the military during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War under the branches of the United States Army, Coast Guard, and Navy of which he was honorably discharged as Lieutenant JG reserve officer. During his service time he was awarded the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administrations Mariners Medal, Merchant Marine Combat Bar, Pacific War Zone Bar, Mediterranean Middle East War Zone Bar, Atlantic War Zone Bar, and Victory Bar. Lee was known as a caring individual of others and fond of his pets. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, August 1, 2009 at his sons residence 1090 Southdale, Vidor, Texas, 77662. Lee is survived by his wife of 48 years Mary; sons Albert (wife Judy) and Joseph (wife Roxane); grandsons Darrick and Stephen; brother Adrian; sister Erma Trollinger.
