Lawrence "Larry" Obie Barnes

Lawrence "Larry" Obie Barnes, 75, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Cascade Senior Care in Port Arthur, Texas. A longtime resident of Vidor, Larry was known for his hardworking nature and passion for all things mechanical.

Larry spent his career as a truck driver and mechanic, a role that fueled his love for machines and the open road. He found joy in tinkering with race cars, fine-tuning engines, and taking leisurely rides on his motorcycle. His hands were rarely idle, and his heart was always full of love for his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his son, Bo McGlothlin of Vidor, TX; his sister-in-law, Beverly Barnes of Vidor, TX; and his three granddaughters: Kiersten McGlothlin, Kinsley McGlothlin, and Maddison McGlothlin, all of Vidor, TX. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Larry’s adventurous spirit, dedication to his craft, and love for his family will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
