Kenneth Ardis, 67, of Vidor, passed peacefully from this life to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He had fought a very long and courageous battle with cancer with an optimism that God’s will was ongoing in his life. Kenneth was born December 29, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Vidor, Texas. After graduation he became a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #124 and later owned a pipeline mowing company from which he retired. Kenneth loved his family, friends, hunting, fishing and especially time with his beloved four-legged children, Buttercup, Gumby, Albert and Clyde, (also known as Scooby-Doo). Kenneth is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becky, who was the love of his life and world-wide traveling partner. He is also survived by many friends and loved ones who consider themselves his family, and whose children have always known him as Uncle Kenneth. These are his family not by birth, but by choice. Kenneth had a passion for life and for people. He considered you family from the moment of introduction and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his friends from youth and his family in Christ. His testimony of God’s love and Christ’s redemption came as natural and easily as his smile.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle, the light of his life, and by his parents,Tom and Audrey Ardis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12th, at 10: 00 am at First Baptist Church, Vidor, Texas, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 pm on Monday, April 11th, at First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Vision 20/20 or to the charity of your choice.
