“Betty” Josephine Elizabeth Anniboli Sheppard
Betty Sheppard was born December 4, 1929 in Pt. Arthur, Texas, and left this world on December 1, 2018.
Betty grew up in Pt. Arthur, Texas where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1940. She graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Betty had a lifelong love of reading and writing, had two of her short stories published and she worked as a book reviewer for the Beaumont Enterprise.
Betty was a member of the Daughters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was active in VFW activities during World War II. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Vidor, Texas for 56 years, where she taught Sunday School for 10 years and was instrumental in starting the St. Joseph Alter celebration there.
Betty was know for her cooking. She often cared for family and friends when they were ill.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Emilio Anniboli of Manciano, Italy and Lucille (Lucy) Cuccia.
She is survived by her husband, Shep and their 5 children, Donna (Dan) Richards, Mike (Trevelyn) Sheppard, Kent (Joan) Sheppard, Jude Sheppard and Luci (Daryl Brown) Sheppard. Betty had 12 grandchildren, Heath Sheppard, Kimberly Cooper, Kim Eldrige, Travis Sheppard, Amber Siegel, Michael Sheppard, Tes Sheppard, Ploman Sheppard, Ben Sheppard, Shawn Gallet, Corey Sheppard, and Kelsey Sheppard-Keaton, 22 great grandchildren and her sisters Rosie Roccaforte and Grace Hennigan.
Services will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home on Hwy 12 in Vidor, Texas beginning with a Rosary at 9am.
