Joseph Vivian Darbonne, 73, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005, at 6 p.m. at Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center in Fort Worth, Texas after an eleven month illness. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday the 5th of January at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor, Texas. Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park of Vidor, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, the 4th of January and Wednesday morning until 12 noon at Memorial Funeral Home, Vidor, Texas. Joseph Vivian Darbonne was born in Lawtell, Louisiana in 1931, and moved to Texas where he met Evelyn West and married in Beaumont, Texas in 1956. He was a wonderful storyteller of his life experiences as a child, about his family, his work on farms and his work with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He worked for many different trucking companies, throughout his life which allowed him to travel all over the United States. Once retired, he and wife, Evelyn, made many trips together enjoying the countryside and researching family genealogy. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Evelyn West Darbonne, his father, Ezeube Darbonne and mother, Beatrice Ledoux Darbonne, brothers Anthony Darbonne, Harrison Darbonne and Jack Darbonne, sisters Leona Darbonne Thibodaux, Willie Mae Darbonne Pelafigue, half-sister Donna Darbonne and nephew Michael Darbonne. He is survived by daughter Renee’ Darbonne Moody and husband Alan B. Moody, Sr, son, Joe Dale Darbonne, daughter, Brenda Darbonne Ard, and son Terry Darbonne and wife Marsha Darbonne, grandchildren Alan Moody, Jr., Joshua Moody, Marilyn Moody, Christina Darbonne, Courtney Ard, Brittney Ard and Makayla Darbonne. Brother, Ezeb Darbonne, Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, sisters Norma Lee Darbonne Lagrange of Baton Rouge LA, Lucretia Darbonne Thibodeaux of Port Allen, LA, Sue Darbonne Grimmett of Lafayette, LA, half-sister Betty Darbonne Leininger of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Broadway Plaza, West Side Care Center and Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center of Fort Worth, Texas for their personal care and love given to our father during his extended illness.
