Ryan "Frenchie" Romero passed away from this life at the age of 98 on June 19,2018. He was born September 23, 1919 to Marie and Joseph Romero in New Iberia, La. He was a longtime resident of Vidor.
Visitation will be Friday, June 22, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Turning Point Church. A celebration of Ryan's life, given by Brother George Gau, will be Saturday, June 23, at 10:00am at Turning Point Church, 3600 North Main St., Vidor, Tx.
He was married to Addie Eaves. They celebrated 76 years of marriage before her passing in 2015.
Ryan was owner of Ryan Romero Excavating. He was a heavy equipment (dragline) operator for most of his life. He was well known as one of the best and worked all over the United States with his Bucyrus-Erie Dragline. With a 4th grade education, he could figure dirt work to perfection in his head.
When he retired from excavating, he turned to gardening and barbequing. He loved raising vegetables for his family and friends. On every holiday, and days in between, you could see smoke coming from his BBQ pit, cooking brisket, ribs, and sausage with his secret sauce. He loved and took pride in feeding and spending time with his family and friends.
Ryan is survived by: one son, Dewey Lee Romero and wife Margarita, of Conroe, three daughters, Ann Mooney and husband Jimmy, Dianne Killough and husband Jim, Debbie Nagel, all of Vidor, daughter-in-law, Linda Romero of Vidor. He was "Papa" to 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Eaves Romero, 2 sons, Carlos Romero and Wesley Romero, his parents and 10 siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Lane Mooney, Darrin Mooney, Brady Nagel, Kasey Killough, Todd Goss, Matt Mueller, Brandon Rachford, and Chris Moree.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Harvey Lee Wilkerson, Roger Welch, Jimmy Mooney, Jim Killough, Van Croft and Robert Payne.
