John Price Ross

February 22, 1963 — August 14, 2024

Beaumont

John Price Ross, 61, of Vidor, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with Primary Hepatocellular carcinoma. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, John made Vidor his home for many years.

John was a highly intelligent and complex man with a sharp whit and a mischievous spirit. The word shy was not in his vocabulary and he left a lasting impression on anyone he met. From the time he was a boy he loved to learn how things worked and fit together. This led to John becoming a talented general contractor and mechanic. He had a knack for figuring out difficult problems and saw everything as a puzzle to be solved.

John loved music and was a talented guitar player. His musical abilities were surpassed only by his storytelling abilities. He could captivate any audience by taking them as far as his imagination could carry them. He could make anyone feel that they were living inside his stories. He had a magnetism that drew people to him and will never be forgotten.

Though he had some dark times in life he always fought to find his light. Later in life he found a loving and supportive church community that helped set him on a better path and focus on things that truly mattered. In his final years he found the love of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This love helped him to become a better man and he was truly grateful for their influence in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Robert Ross, Sr. and Virginia Lee Williams Ross, and the love of his life Darlene Spears. John is survived by his son, David Bertrand of Beaumont, TX; his brothers, William Robert Ross Jr. and wife Judy of Midland, TX, and Matthew Ross and wife Emily of Beaumont, TX; his sisters, Julana Phenix and husband Ken of Colorado Springs, CO, and Laura Price and husband Lee of Rexburg, ID. He also leaves behind two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will never be forgotten.
