John Calvin Palmer, 87, passed away Friday September 2nd, 2016 at Sagebrook Health Center in Cedar Park, Texas. John will be truly missed by every person that he touched in his life. With his happy demeanor and always looking on the bright side. He was very social and personable. He was gifted at being a storyteller and loved his social outings. His hobbies: fishing, hunting, dancing, gardening and watching all sports. Most of all John loved his family. We will truly miss him. With a lifelong career in the newspaper business. He started working at the age of 13 in Nebraska, moving to Texas in 1950, working for the Port Arthur News & retiring from the Beaumont Enterprise. Born on May 13, 1929 in Nucholls County, Nebraska to Riley & Mabel Palmer. He was the eighth of eleven children. Survivors include: Brothers: Vernon Palmer & wife Carolyn, Robert Palmer & wife Mary Ann. Children: John K. Palmer & wife Martha & Karen Cohen & husband Maurice. Grandchildren: Kevin, Jeremy & Jason Palmer & Elizabeth & Andrew Cohen. Great Grandchildren Brianne, Marcus & Alley Palmer. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family & friends are left to treasure his memory. A Memorial Service will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, 1750 Hwy 12.
