Jody Ray Briggs, 72, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2021. Jody Briggs, son of John W. and Mary Briggs was born on December 12, 1948. He served in the National Guard from 1974-1978. He attended Lamar University and received his Bachelor’s degree. Jody began his career at Texaco when he was just 19 years old and worked there until retiring in 2015. Jody had a distinguished career working at Motiva in Safety where he created most of the safety manuals and often helped his former colleagues even after his retirement. Jody served on the Board at 5 Point Credit Union for many years. He served on Boards of ISTC and GTBR. Jody served the Lord as an Elder in his church for 28 years and he was willing to help his family and church in anyway. He was as known as a man of God that prayed for his family and community daily. Jody loved his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and loved spending time with them. He loved his dog Bubba Ray and he enjoyed fishing and hunting when he had the chance. Jody married his wife Susan Briggs on November 16, 1990 and they enjoyed over 30 years together. He will be missed by all that knew him. He was preceded by death: Parents John W. and Mary Briggs; Son Mason Stewart; He is survived by his loving wife Susan, children and their spouses: Christopher and Gina Briggs, Leah and Daniel Doss, Sondra and Wayne Long, Justin and Heather Briggs, Jamie Briggs; and 13 grandchildren: Bruce, Denise and husband Josh, Logan, Daniel, Emily, Krystal, Ethan, Destiny, Chandler, Marissa, Bailey, Johnny, and Isabella; and 4 great grandchildren: Kaylee, Lillian, Robyn, and Kinsley; and his siblings: Johnny Bob and Nan Briggs, Jeff Briggs, Bridget and Lynn Hartje, Marty and Lynelle Briggs, Pat and Evelyn Briggs, Mary Kay Boudreaux, Beth Merren, and Bonnie Briggs. Visitation will be Friday, June 4, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. for the public at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor (1750 Hwy 12). A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church (1030 North Main Vidor Texas). The burial will follow the Ceremony at Antioch Cemetery (1850 FM 1004 Buna Texas).
