Jimmie "Jay" Attaway

Jay Attaway, 74, of Vidor, TX died Thursday, January 17th, 2019 in Beaumont, TX. A native of Pt. Arthur, TX he was a longtime resident of the Golden Triangle area. He served his country in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. Jay attended Pine Forest Baptist Church for a number of years and was a member of the Crime Watch of Vidor. He enjoyed ranching, collecting antiques and clocks. Some of his other hobbies were ceramics, making bird houses, hunting, fishing, and going camping in his RV. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland. Jay is survived by his wife; Patty Barnett-Attaway, brothers; Dale Attaway and his wife Kathy of Wildwood, TX and Daryl Attaway and his wife Denise of Pottsboro, TX, uncle; Jerry Attaway and his wife Gloria of Florida, nieces: Janet Turk and her husband Jeff of Nederland, Donna Haselow and her husband Peter of Missouri City, TX, and Tracy Massengill and her husband Joe of Aransas Pass, TX. Jay is also survived by brother-in-laws; James Barnett and his wife Nina of Alvin, TX, Donald Barnett and his wife Gaye of Vidor, Robert Barnett and his wife Gail of Orange, TX, and John Barnett and his wife Theresa of Midlothian, TX, sister-in-law; Mamie Graham of League City, TX along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his wife; Judy Attaway, parents, grandparents, sisters; Carol Jean and Cass Lowth, brother; Larry Dubose and step-brother; Leroy Graham.
