Jewel Crile

Jewel was born June 16, 1925 to Robert and Felipa Due at the Southern Pacific Section house in Diana, Texaslater known as Vidor. Mrs Crile was a lifelong resident of Vidor and was a 1943 graduate of Vidor High School. She worked at Gulf States Utilities in Beaumont and Vidor. She is a member of First United Methodist Church, Vidor. She is survived by her loving children: Sandra and husband Richard Hinote of Cypress; Linda and her husband, Joel Hayes; Deborah and her husband, Steve Cropper and her son, Larry Robert Crile and his wife, Vicki, all of Vidor .Mrs Crile is survived by nine grandchildren: Sharalyn Propst of Cypress, Patricia Guess of Rusk, Richard Hinote, Jr. Of Cypress, Greg Hayes of Vidor, Joseph Cropper of Lumberton, Jewelann Cropper of Austin, and Chris Crile, Clint Crile, and Curt Crile all of Vidor. Mrs Crile is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Briana, Rachelyn and Jordan Propst of Cypress, Texas and Caleb and Zachary Guess of Rusk, TX. Another great-grandchild is due in April. Mrs Crile is survived by a brother, Woodrow Due of Beaumont, sister-in-law, Charlene and husband, Alton Wright of Kountze; Ival Crile and wife, Dot, of Franklinton, LA and Chuck Crile and wife, Connie, of New Castle, Delaware. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and many wonderful friends. Mrs Crile is preceded in death by her husband, Melville Crile, whom she married in 1946 and passed away January 2003. A loving mother, her joy in life was caring and providing for her family and loved ones. She was a “natural-born” teacher and seven of her children and grandchildren are teachers. “Miss Jewel” loved volunteering at Oak Forest Elementary for the past six years and always taught the students not to ever say “I can’t”. Graveside services will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont at 2:30 p.m. Sunday October 19, 2003, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday October 18, 2003 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. In Lieu of Flowers, donation can be made to the Katie Pittman Christian Activity Center at First United Methodist Church of Vidor, 501 N. Main St., Vidor, TX 77662 or the favorite charity of your choose.
