J.B. Oakes, Jr.

June 28, 1941 — October 9, 2018

J.B. Oakes, Jr., 77, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 in Houston at St. Lukes Hospital. A native of Beaumont, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor and a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor. J.B, enjoyed working with electronics and computers but he especially enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Legacy Room at First Baptist Church. J.B. is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Kathy Oakes of Vidor, 2 daughters; Terry Paine and her husband Carl of Vidor and Glenda Davis and her husband Dwayne of Deweyville, TX, 4 grandchildren; B.J. Paine and his wife Christy of Vidor, Sarah Paine and her husband Shaun of Houston, Marlie Davis and Abi Davis both of Deweyville, and 2 great grandchildren; Brayden Paine and Kennady Paine. J.B. is also survived by 1 sister; Jodi Hill and her husband Glenn of Harlingen, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents; Jennings and Mary Oakes. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
