James S. Rhodes

James S. Rhodes, 79, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at his home. A native of Kountze, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Calvert during Vietnam. James retired from BASF and enjoyed fishing, camping and going to the casinos and playing the slot machines. James was an avid Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; Jackie Rhodes, 3 sons; Blane Rhodes and his wife Terri of Kountze, TX, Mike Rhodes and his wife Nina of Vidor, and Gary Rhodes and his wife Melody of Mauriceville, TX, 8 grandchildren; Joshua, Jamie, Justin, Jake, Shannon, Tristan, Tyler and Chloe, and 4 great grandchildren; Emily, Natalie, Adam and Mason. He is also survived by 2 sisters; Linda Kay Loggins and Sue Burch, and 2 brothers; Gilbert and Dennis Burch. James was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Hershel, Tommy, Tim, Paul and Kenneth Rhodes.
