James H. Spell, 88, of Vidor died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. A native of Estherwood, LA, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. James was a retired shipfitter with Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor and a member of Vidor Masonic Lodge #1286. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home. James is survived by his wife of 57 years: Orelia Spell of Vidor, TX, daughter: Brenda Beard of Vidor, TX, sister: Mable Perry of Ft. Worth, TX, 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
