James Dalton Smith, Sr., 80, of Vidor died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Alexandria, LA., he was a longtime resident of Vidor, and a retired heavy equipment operator with Local # 450. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Christian Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. James was preceded in death by his father Coot Smith, mother Willie Swan, brothers AB Smith, and Bill Smith, and his sister Lois Edwards. James is survived by his wife Ethel Smith, sons James Smith, Jr and wife Becky, Gary Smith and wife Karon, grandsons James Smith, III and wife Susan, Justin Smith and wife Jennifer, two great grandchildren Jacob Smith and Annabelle Smith all of Vidor, and many cousins, friends and other relatives. Pallbearers for the service will be: Oliver Smith, James Smith, III, Justin Smith, Alfred Smith, Jr., Brandon Wright, Trenton Wright, and Blane Wright.
