Doc Blacksher, 89, of Vidor died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. A native of Nacogdoches, Texas, he was a longtime resident of Nederland before moving to Vidor two years ago. Doc was a retired operator with Gulf Oil and served his country in the US Air Force during WW II. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home. Doc was preceded in death by his wife Macella, and son Craig Blacksher. He is survived by his son Mike Blacksher and Darla of Vidor, TX, brother Lonzo Blacksher of Nacogdoches, TX, Jim-Tom Blacksher of Lumberton, TX, sister Delois Deloach of El Daranda, AR, grandchildren Donnie and Doreen of Vidor, TX, Ronnie Blacksher of Vidor, TX, great grandchildren Kala and Marc, Beau Blacksher, Justin Miller, Jessica Miller and Brice Blacksher all of Vidor, TX, great great grandchild Lani Rae Biggs.
