Horace Hoit Carter

September 12, 1919 — February 17, 2013

Horace H. Carter, 93, of Vidor died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. A native of Maybank, TX., he has lived in Vidor for 63 years before moving to Goldthwaite 3 years ago. Horace was a retired hoisting engineer with H.B. Nield and Sons Construction. Horace served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Horace was preceded in death by his wife Inez Lyle Carter, brothers John Carter and Jim Carter, sisters Lillian Longshore, Beatrice Wilcox, Dora Sinclair, and Margaret Shepherd. He is survived by his son Phillip Wayne Carter of Lumberton, daughters Brenda Carolyn Smith of Goldthwaite, TX., and Kathryn Ann Holland of Marquez, TX., sister Velma Carter of Beaumont, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
