Grady Louis Sparks Jr., a cherished member of the Vidor community, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont at the age of 69. He had resided in Vidor for many years and was a dedicated member of Mauriceville All Gospel Church. Grady was known for his sincere faith and dedication to the Lord, and he found his greatest happiness in spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pop Pop." Grady was a youth leader, Royal Ranger Commander, and Sunday School Teacher, and he became an honorary "Pop Pop" to many children and teenagers. His heart's desire was for his family, children, and the students he influenced to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Despite years of illness, Grady showed unwavering faith and trust in a loving savior. He was full of life, love, and plenty of jokes! To know him was to love him. Grady is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet Sparks of Vidor, TX, and his children Grady Louis Sparks Ill of Bridge City, TX, and Katrina Kay Smith and Jason of Vidor, TX. He is also survived by his sisters Susan Miller and husband Rodney of Malakoff, TX, Donna Tomplait and husband Chris, of Port Acres, TX, and various nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Noah and Nathaniel Smith. Grady was preceded in death by his parents Grady Sr. and Olie Sparks, his brother Edwin Sparks, and his sister Linda Authement. Grady's legacy will live on through his family, friends, and every life he impacted. He wanted each person to know Jesus like he did as his Father, Savior, Friend, Joy, Peace, Rescuer, and Hope.
