Gilmer W. Vickery, 88, of Vidor died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, Texas he has lived in Vidor all of his life, and was a retired merchant marine for Mobil Oil after 43 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX. Visitation will begin Friday, September 26, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Carrie Alice Vickery of Vidor, TX., son, Lloyd Spell of Vidor, TX., daughters, Alice Wroten of Huntsville, TX., Wanda Rainwater, of Orange, TX., Johnnie Johnson of Buna, TX., and Mary Hamilton of Vidor, TX., thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces nephews.
