Gilbert Villafano, 89, of Vidor died Friday, August 20, 2010 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, TX he was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Gilbert was a retired Machine Operator for National Concrete in Beaumont and was a member of the Lulac Chapter in Beaumont. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Christian vigil at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Gilbert was preceded in death by his son Gil Villafano, Jr. He is survived by his wife Petra Villafano, sons Joe Contreras and Michael R. Villafano both of Johnson City, TX, Michael W. Villafano of Vidor, TX, brother Gabriel Villafano of Vidor, TX, sisters Vivian Manriquez, Jovita Villafano, Anbrosa Galavis, and Ruby Ochoa all of Vidor, TX, Connie Carrion of China, TX, Martha Archibeque of Sequine, TX, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
