Gertrude E. Stanton born May 10, 1918 in Eastland, TX., to Gertrude and George Benson McClaskey, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at her residence in Vidor. She was preceded in death by her sons Ralph and Edwin Seymour, grandson Danny Smith, and three husbands Edwin Seymour, Willie Hebert, and Frank Stanton. She is survived by her daughter Gladys Smith and husband Carl, seven grandchildren: Elaine Pickering and husband Mike, Nolan Smith and wife Lisa, Sharon Rountree and husband Landry, Grace Brister and husband Roger, Timothy Smith and wife Angela, John Smith and wife Joelynn and son Stephen Smith. 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was a faithful member of The Pentecostals of Pine Forest. She was retired from Oakwood Manor Nursing Home as a dietary supervisor. She loved to crochet, sew, garden, cook, do ceramics and enjoyed fishing, crabing and her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2010 at The Pentecostals of Pine Forest Church in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at The Pentecostals of Pine Forest Church. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
