Gerard Ernest Lasante

Gerard E. LaSante passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007 after a brief illness. Born on March 11, 1921 in Sanford, Maine, he was a 25 year resident of Biddeford, Maine, a 35 year resident of Dover, N.H. and Port St. Lucie, FL, for 13 years before moving to Vidor, Texas. Gerard was a decorated WWII Army Veteran, having seen combat in the European Theater and was a baker by trade. He was employed by Harvey’s Bakery in Dover as well as by the University of New Hampshire, from which he retired. He was a avid cribbage player and horseshoe thrower. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007 in the rectory chapel at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. Gerard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Claire, his parents, 9 brothers, and 10 sisters. He is survived by his three children, sons Roger LaSante of Prattsburg, N.Y., Wayne LaSante and his wife Susan of Littleton, Mass, and daughter Elaine Mumford and her husband Allen of Vidor, TX, 7 grandchildren, one sister Bella Bernier of Rochester, N.H., and one brother Harvey LaSante of Lawrence, Mass. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church: 1600 N. Main St, Vidor, Texas, 77662.
