Geraldine Patricia Brassieur Thomas, 68, succumbed at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Geri had bravely fought pancreatic and liver cancer for more than seven years. Until the end, Geri retained her warm sense of humor, and her intense care and devotion for her family. Her beautiful countenance will be missed. Born in the South Park neighborhood of Beaumont, Geraldine grew up in Amelia. She attended Amelia Elementary, St. Anne’s Catholic School, and graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in 1963. She married George R. Thomas on October 1, 1965, and moved to Mr. Thomas’s family home in Vidor during the early 1970s, where she spent the remainder of her life. Geraldine worked for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Beaumont for thirty-two years. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Brassieur and Vernice Marie Dies Brassieur, of Beaumont. Those left to cherish her memory include: her spouse of 48 years, George Robert Thomas, of Vidor; two daughters, Janet Lynn Thomas, of Houston, and Jamie Sue Ladd, of Lumberton; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Allyse Ladd, of Lumberton; her brother, C. Ray Brassieur (wife Amy), of Lafayette, La.; her niece, Stephanie Carol Brasseur, of Lafayette; as well as many kin and friends throughout East Texas, south Louisiana, and beyond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home.
