George Matthew Dewberry Sr.

George Matthew Dewberry Sr, 69 of Vidor died Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Quitman, Georgia, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. George was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor and retired from Goodyear Chemical after 30 years as a process operator. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was a firefighter for the Vidor Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. George loved his motorcycles and riding in the hill country. He also enjoyed helping people when he could. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and a memorial service will statrt at 11:00 am Friday, February 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Vidor. George was preceded in death by his parents William Dewberry and Evelyn Harmon, sisters Jane and Margaret Dewberry. He is survived by his son Matt Dewberry and his wife Kara of Vidor, TX, brother Bill Dewberry and his wife Fabia of Macon, GA, sister Jeanne Hunnewell of Tallahassee, FL, 2 grandchildren Connor and Isabel Dewberry.
