George L. Wells

George L. Wells, 71, of Vidor, TX died Monday, October 15th, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. A native of Borger, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor who served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor for many years. George retired from Goodyear Chemical after 37 years. Also, he was a former school board member of the VISD for 6 years and at one time served on the Vidor Volunteer Fire Dept.. He also volunteered during disaster reliefs. During his spare time he enjoyed antiquing, going to estate sales, and collecting rocks and minerals. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. George is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; Martha Wells, 1 son; Gary K. Wells and his wife Donna of Houston, TX, 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister; Sherrell Covington of Augusta, GA, 1 brother; C. Neel Wells of Houston, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; W.R. Wells, Jr. and Roscoe K. Wells.
