Gary Lynn Porter, 65, a beloved resident of Vidor, died on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, at his home. Known for his dedication to his community and his love for truck driving, Gary leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service.
As a longtime resident of Vidor, Gary made a lasting impact through his volunteer work at the Christian Care Center, where he selflessly served those in need. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his volunteer work, as he was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his charitable endeavors, Gary had a passion for collecting eagles, a symbol of strength and freedom that resonated deeply with him.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Amber Winchester and her husband Shane of Vidor, TX; Karen Mangan and her husband David of Lacey, WA; Krista Spoonemore and her husband Hayden of Sulphur, LA; and Emalie Jones of Vidor, TX. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Charlotte Verrett of Beaumont, TX; his brother Doug Porter and his wife Susan of Beaumont, TX; and his sister Cindy Porter of Beaumont, TX.
Gary will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Jordyn Fowler, Nathan Winchester, Emma Winchester, Olivia Mangan, and Ava Spoonemore, who brought immense joy to his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patsy Porter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Care Center of Vidor in honor of Gary's dedication to serving others.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories he created during his remarkable life.
