Gary Lee Johnson, Sr.

Gary L. Johnson, Sr., 74, passed from this life July 10, 2012 at his home in Buna. He was a native of Beaumont, Texas and graduated from South Park High School in 1955, moved to Vidor in 1965 where he resided for 33 years. He retired from Arco Palmer in Port Arthur, Texas in the mid 80's and worked as a pipefitter and metal building erector until his retirement at age 65. Gary “Buddy” to family and friends, was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Vidor. He was preceded in death by his parents Neal King Johnson and Zella Mae Boulton Johnson; sisters Billie and Donna; son Gary Lee Johnson, Jr.; grandson Richard Walter Marlow, Jr.; and great grandson Camron Shane Marlow. Buddy is survived by his wife Johnnie Lou Johnson of Buna, daughters Terri Johnson of Beaumont, and Jerri Johnson of Phoenix, AZ., and their family Anthony and Kathy Kalanta of Corpus Christi, Velissa Bell of Colmesneil, Richard and Teresa Marlow of Vidor, grandchildren: Robert and Cassie Marlow of Vidor, Amber Godeaux and Heather Godeaux both of Colmesneil, Phillip and Jennifer Wells of Huntington, TX., Taylor Bell of Colmesneil, Robert Bergeron Kalanta, and Matthew Shaun Kalanta both of Corpus Christi, great grandchildren: Rayland Wayne Marlow and Riley Mason Marlow both Vidor, Alyssa Madison Patrick of Colmesneil, Brynna Jade Marlow of Vidor, August Rayne Wells of Huntington, and Skiilur Elizabeth Hester of Colmesneil. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with Pastor Joe Dougharty and Rev. John McKee officiating the services. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home.
