Fred C. James, born in Sioux City, IA., and passed from this life in Vidor, TX., on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Vidor Health and Rehab Nursing Home in Vidor. Fred has lived in Vidor since 1998, and was a self-employed artist and painter. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a Army Corpman and a Tech 5, and served under the 3rd Army with General George S. Patton. Fred served in the following operations Sicilian, Rome Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He enlisted in September of 1940 and left the military in September of 1945. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Houston National Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at First Pentecostal Church of Vidor. Fred was preceded in death by his father Michael C. James, and mother Pearl Cooley, brother Gil James, sisters Bernice Lockett, Elnor Gilchrist, and Pat Gunnip. Fred is survived by his nephews Bruce Lockett, Layton Earl Lockett, Jr., Randy Gunnip, and Robert Gunnip, nieces Jennifer Gilchrist, Tonia Gilchrist, and Carol Colbert, and several other great nephews and nieces.
